Each Fall as a new school year begins, we have a huge back to school bash.  Kids can come in and get free bookbags, free vision and dental screenings and have many of their school supplies paid for.

We travel all over the U.S., and one activity we always enjoy, no matter where our travels take us, is visiting yard sales/thrift stores.  It’s amazing what you can find in each place, and how things available can differ depending on where you are.

Fort Mountain State Park is perhaps Murray County's most well-known and visited travel destination.  While most first-time visitors come fully expecting to enjoy the lake, the famous rock wall, the West Overlook and the Fire Tower, many do not realize that said Fire Tower has a very unique feature.

Most of us have at least heard of ‘The Dukes of Hazzard’, a wildly popular television show that retains a devoted fan following and averaged 19 million weekly viewers during its 1979 to 1985 run.  It followed the adventures of the Duke family who, while fighting a corrupt system, often found themselves at odds with the local authorities.  The family consisted of cousins, Bo, Luke and Daisy Duke who had all been orphaned as children and were ultimately raised by their firm yet loving Uncle Jesse.   The show was a lot of fluff and fun but did attempt to remind us of some good values, such as don’t take anything that isn’t yours, family comes first and respect others.

It's hard to believe that there are still some Murray residents who have never stepped foot inside the Creme Hut.  Perhaps it's because it's on the south side of Chatsworth, and they don't realize it exists because their travels rarely take them that way. Or maybe it's because...they mistake it for a gas station?

December 6, 2025:   On Saturday, the Whitfield-Murray Historical Society hosted the Polar Express, an annual event at the Chatsworth Train Depot.  This was the day that going out in public with your pajamas on was especially encouraged!
