As the years go by it has become clear that Murray County has embraced Easter in a big way, giving our Halloween events some real competition when it comes to seasonal fun. Whether the number of church events has actually grown over the years, or social media has just made it easier to find them to one thing’s for sure: finding Easter activities around here isn’t hard at all.
This year’s celebrations kicked off on March 28th, with plenty of organizations hosting all kinds of events. Spring Place Baptist got things started with the Easter festivities, offering Story Time, An egg hunt complete with golden egg prize, and a raffle giving away $50 gift cards!
A few short hours later, those eager to keep the Easter fun going could head to the Rec Dept on Green Road, where Jack's Restaurant hosted a lively festival with music, food, and festive goods from local vendors.
Later in the day, the First United Methodist joined in with multiple egg hunts, a petting zoo, games, inflatables, and plenty of popcorn.
For those wanting to keep the Easter spirit alive while taking a break from all the egg hunts, there was an Easter play at Mount View Church that evening. I’ve heard great things about it from everyone who went.
The weekend wrapped up with an Egg Hunt at Homeland, followed by an encore performance of Mt. View’s play. Then, on Tuesday, March 31, the Murray County Library hosted their own Egg Hunt, complete with treats and crafts for visitors to enjoy.
Easter weekend itself is now almost here, and the celebrations kick off Friday with Holly Creek’s Good Friday Egg Hunt, complete with hot dogs and inflatables to keep the fun going after the eggs are found.
For those looking for something beyond kid-focused fun, the evening also brings the opening night of “Worthy is the Lamb,” the beloved play hosted annually by Homeland Baptist Church.
If a traditional Good Friday service is more your style, Central Community Church has you covered.
