ANNUAL EVENTS

While the following lists our better-known events, it by no means serves as a comprehensive list. Visit either the 'Current Events' tab or the 'Calendar' tab on our menu bar to learn which of these, or other events, are taking place within the next few weeks.

 

411 YARD SALEAnnual antique and rummage sale held along US Hwy 411 each Spring and Fall.   Many vendors set up at various locations along the route in Murray County. 

APPALACIAN WAGON TRAIN & PARADE:  Annual multi day event of barrel racing, pole bending, fun shows, and family events at the Murray County Saddle Club.  Highlighting the event is the annual Wagon Train Parade, held along US Hwy 411.

BLACK BEAR PLUNGE:  Join others for an icy New Year's Day swim in the lake at Fort Mountain State Park.

BLACK BEAR FESTIVAL:  Held each October at the recreation department on Green Road.  Includes a multitude of food and craft vendors, a car show, kid's activities and special entertainment.

BLOSSOM FESTIVAL:  Held in May at Chatsworth City Park.  Fundraising Event for Keep Chatsworth/Murray Beautiful

CHATSWORTH INDEPENDENCE DAY FIREWORKS:  Annual presentation held each year on the Saturday of or before July 4.  Vendors and stage entertainment are part of the celebration.  Recreation department, Green road.

CHATSWORTH TRAIN EXPO:  Event at the Chatsworth Train Depot.  Includes kid powered rail cars, rides aboard the big blue train, model train demonstrations, tours of the caboose as well as the nearby Wright Hotel, and a raffle.

CHRISTMAS BY CANDLELIGHT TOURS:  Annual Christmastime event at the Chief Vann House.  Tours, music, Moravian inspired snacks and bonfire.

CHRISTMAS IN THE PARK:  Annual free community event with the lighting of 125+ Christmas trees, treats, photos with Santa, and stage entertainment

ETON INDEPENDENCE DAY FIREWORKS:  Annual presentation held each year in the city of Eton.  Vendors and children’s activities included.

HALLOWEEN AND HARVEST EVENTS:  Murray County is a trick-or-treater’s paradise with numerous churches and organizations hosting seasonal parties and trunk or treats, and a vast number of neighborhoods participating in door-to-door trick or treat activities.  Click HERE to see the full list

NORTH GEORGIA MOUNTAIN CHRISTMAS PARADE:  Annual parade taking place on Hwy 411 in Chatsworth each December.

SPRING PLACE FESTIVAL: Annual summer event featuring an antique and rummage sale, bake sale, auction of over 100 items and special historical display.

SUPER MUSEUM SUNDAY: Annual winter event across the state of Georgia in which many museums are open to the public free of charge.  Murray County structures participating include The Chatsworth Depot, The Wright Hotel, Historic Spring Place Church and The Chief Vann House

TEAR DROP HALF MARATHON:  Annual Event.  2026 marks the 12th year and the date is April 26. Signups available at iwelife.com.  

THE POLAR EXPRESS EVENT: Annual Christmas Event at the Chatsworth Train Depot.  Children are invited to listen to storyteller readings of the Polar Express book, enjoy treats, ride aboard ‘Thomas’ and visit with Santa.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOLS:  Many area churches host Vacation Bible School events each summer.  Fun activities such as crafts, recreation and refreshments are commonplace.  Occasionally petting zoos, bounce houses and more are added to the fun. VANN HOUSE DAYS:  Annual summer event in which local artisans perform vintage craft making skills, such as basket weaving and more.

WHOVILLE:  Christmas themed festival with multiple vendors and special appearances by Santa and the Grinch.  Held each November at Chatsworth City Park.

WOOFSTOCK FESTIVAL:  Annual April Event.  Fundraiser for the Murray County Humane Society

WRIGHT HOTEL ANTIQUE SALES:  Semiannual antique and rummage sale held in the Spring and Fall, benefiting ongoing efforts to maintain and upkeep structures under the care of the Murray/Whitfield Historical Society.
