Didn't You Know? Murray County Has Nothing to Do!

Murray County has 'nothing to do'!  

At least that was the message for many, many years.

And if we go back to a certain time, that was mostly true.  In the 80's, '90's and even at the turn of the century, one would be hard pressed to find things to do.  We had Fort Mountain State Park, we had the Chief Vann House, and we had Carter's Lake.  But even the best attractions can only be enjoyed so many times before we begin looking for something else.  And in an age where there was no social media to inform us of choices, we often found ourselves leaving Murray in search of those activities.

This was still the primary message in 2014, when I first began the Murray County/Chatsworth GA Community Events Facebook Page.  People were still saying there was nothing to do in Murray County.  A simple scroll on my Facebook told me that actually, there were things going on, but there was nowhere online that compiled all of the events.  Unless you were specifically following each and every page in Murray County that 'might' have an event, it was usually just the luck of the scroll whether or not you found out what was going on.  It was a time when there wasn't even an 'Events' button to click on Facebook itself.

Thanks to the fact that people are catching on to the page more than ever, it's easier to get notifications of events, and thus, pass them on to you.  Who would have thought that there would actually be 12 different entertaining events of interest to the public on an APRIL Saturday?  This was the amount that we might expect around Harvest/Halloween time, even around Christmas, but events that has nothing to do with graduations or any variety of sports events in Murray County in April?  It's fantastic to know how much is actually out there, isn't it?
